Loviste is a small port, situated at the far end of the Peljesac peninsula, opposite the island of Hvar. It is 17 kilometers away from the town of Orebic, but connected with it by an asphalt road that connects also other resorts on the island, such as Ston, Viganj and Kuciste. Loviste is also close to major tourist destinations in Dalmatia. Korcula is only 15 minutes away by boat from Orebic, and Dubrovnik, which is the center of South Dalmatia, is only two hours of driving away.

Dubrovnik

City of Dubrovnik is the southernmost Croatian city, which is certainly the most well known for its tourism and historic wall. There is several legends about foundation of this city. Historically the most correct explanation is, that the city of Dubrovnik was formed after the collapse and destruction of the old Roman city Epidaur. In the territory of the town, the city of Dubrovnik was formed, and was slowly developing until it became the capital of Dubrovnik Republic, which was overwhelmed in the 1808th. However, Dubrovnik was an independent for more than 500 years, and had quite a lot of territory under its authority. In the year 1333, Ston on the Peljesac peninsula, and also many islands in the Adriatic were under the authority of the city of Dubrovnik.

Nakovana

The history of the village Nakovana or also called Nakovanj is explained as an interesting legend. Once upon a time, there were three brothers on the Peljesac peninsula. They decided to split up. The first brother was given a small cottage or forge, in Croatian called kuciste. The settlement, which was then formed around his home is so named Kuciste, and is nowadays very popular among tourists. Another brother got forging tongs, in Croatian called viganj. So the town Viganj was named after the second brother. The town is great for surfing, sailing and kitesurfing. The third brother got blacksmith anvil, so his village is since then named Nakovana, like the Croatian word for blacksmith anvil.

Ston

At the entrance to the Peljesac peninsula is a port and town Ston, which has a rich history since it was founded back in 1333rd. Ston, also called Ston Veli was best known for its salt pans, but today it is more popular because of its tourist attractions, for example its coast, which is great for swimming.

Pelješac

Peljesac is a 65 kilometers long and up to 6 kilometers wide peninsula, located on the east coast of the Adriatic Sea. By its size, Peljsac is second largest peninsula in this part of Adriatic, right after the peninsula of Istra. Peljesac peninsula begins at the port of Ston, which is today known for its beautiful beaches and 7500 meters long wall, which was used to protect the town and saltern, which were very important for the locals. Peljesac peninsula ends at small town Loviste.

Hvar

Croatian island of Hvar is the most famous tourist island in Croatia. It gained its reputation with a fact, that the island of Hvar has the most sunny days a year in the whole Europe. On this island, the sun shines an average of 2717 hours per year, which is a unique record. It is also named Suncani Hvar, Croatian for Sunny Hvar. Due to an excellent location and plenty of sunshine, the island is covered with vineyards, olive and lavender groves that grow perfectly.

Korčula

The city of Korcula is situated on the island with the same name. It is named after a hero from Greek mythology, Kerkyra. This charming island with many rich vineyards and olive plantations is one of the most beautiful green islands in the Adriatic Sea. Historic city of Korcula, which belonged under the rule of the Dubrovnik Republic for centuries, it is certainly worth visiting.

Orebic

Orebic is a small town, which lies on the southwest part of peninsula of Peljesac in Croatia. Surrounded by pine forests and clean Dalmatian sea, Orebic is perfect destination for relaxing vacation. The surrounding mountains protect the city from the wind and other weather inconveniences. There's also a Maritime museum, where you can get sight of what maritime life once was in the city.

Kuciste

Kuciste is, as Viganj, also located in the western part of the peninsula of Peljesac, which is known for its beautiful nature and friendly people. Kuciste is less than 6 kilometers away from the town of Orebic, from which you can ride with ferry to the island and the town of Korcula. There is also possibility of renting a boat, which you can use for transportation from Kuciste to the island of Korcula. Boat ride to the administrative, educational and commercial center of this part of Dalmatia, town of Korcula, lasts only 15 minutes.

Viganj

Small town Viganj lies in the beautiful and quiet sandy bay to the west of Cape Liberan in the western part of the peninsula Peljesac. The town is just 6 kilometers away from Orebic, and it is also accessible from Korcula, as a boat ride lasts only 15 minutes. This is very important especially for the local population as the town of Korcula is actually the center of life in this part of Dalmatia. Access to the town of Viganj is also possible by car from the mainland across the peninsula of Peljesac, as well as by ferry services, which are available every day.
